Hiking

Tom`s Lookout, Madawaska Highlands

Outing Type →

This day hiking excursion will be held on BOTH DAYS - Saturday, October 4th and on Sunday, October 5th. The trail begins at Halfway Lake parking area off Long Lake Road. The estimated length is just over 2 kilometres with some constant climbing required at some places. The view from Tom`s Lookout is spectacular especially for that time of the year with almost a 360 degree angle view. There are also other nearby shorter trails for another option to hike any further. The estimated time on a leisurely hike will be up to nearly 5 hours depending on weather that include the transportation shuttle between MKC and the parking area.

As an option there are also other trails to challenge in the area on the following day (Sunday) if Saturday`s hike to Tom`s Lookout worked out really well, such as McGillivray Lookout but not as spectacular since Tom`s Lookout is located on a higher mountain. These trails are known as the Thomas P. Murray Recreational Trails for anyone would like to google for the map.
